Patient Access


Patient Access allows you to access your local GP services at home, work or on the move – wherever you can connect to the internet. Patient Access is a 24 hour online service where you can:

  •     arrange or cancel an appointment
  •     order repeat medication
  •     view your medical record online

Once registered for this service, you can access the service with a User ID and Password. Unlike the MyGP app, this service allows access to additional functions such as ordering repeat prescriptions and viewing medical records and test results.

All information that is sent to your surgery via Patient Access is secure. Your personal details are encrypted and protected using the highest standard internet security, so it cannot be intercepted. Only you and your GP surgery are able to see this information.

You will need to attend the Practice with evidence of identification in order for the process to complete. Please speak to a member of our reception team should you require further information.


What is eConsult?

The Old Church Surgery has recently introduced a new service called eConsult. This service allows patients who are currently registered at the practice to consult with a GP electronically and offers alternatives to calling or coming into the surgery for common; more minor problems. eConsult allows you to access self-help content, symptom checkers and explains alternative options available e.g. whether your local pharmacist may be able to help, when you should access 111 clinicians and how you can consult remotely with an Old Church Surgery GP.

If you decide to consult with one of our GPs by email your details will be passed to one of our clinicians and the practice will contact you with feedback by the end of the next working day. Please note: this service is appropriate for routine matters and should not be used if your concern is of an urgent nature.

Need Administrative Help?

If you require help with administrative requests such as test result, sick notes, referral letters and medical reports then you can use this service to get a message through to our reception team.

The Benefits of eConsult

Get Medical Advice 24/7 - with eConsult patients can check their symptoms anytime, anywhere and receive on the spot medical advice and treatment guidance, be it in the middle of the night or at their desk during the working day.



The Practice currently uses a text messaging service to send appointment reminders and other health information to patients.

If you have a smartphone (ios or android) you can now download myGP App for free. You will still get appointment reminders and other health information but you will also be able to book and cancel routine doctors’ appointments via this App.

If you want to request repeat prescriptions or view your medical records or test results you will need to register to use Patient Access.
