Emergency Appointments

Emergency appointments are for patients who need urgent medical attention. The practice always tries to see patients on the same day if necessary. You may be seen initially by our Advanced Nurse Practitioner who will consult with the doctor if necessary.

If an emergency appointment is needed please contact the practice as early as possible during surgery hours.

Telephone Appointments

A doctor is available on a daily basis to answer phone calls from patients who need advice or to discuss test results. Please speak to one of our Reception Team to make an appointment. The doctor may ask you to make an appointment to be seen.

If you wish to speak with the practice nurse, please telephone the surgery as early as possible during surgery hours. The receptionist will advise you of the best time to telephone or will give your details to the nurse who will contact you as soon as possible.

  • Anti-coagulation Clinic

You may be asked to see the practice nurse or our healthcare assistant to have a general health check which will include a blood pressure check and life style advice.

Chaperone Policy

Old Church Surgery is committed to putting patients at their ease whenever possible. There may be occasions when patients need to be examine by a doctor that may involve intimate examinations. If you wish for a chaperone to be present during your examination, please do not hesitate to ask the doctor. Please be aware, it may not be possible for a chaperone to be provided immediately.


Should you be unable to attend or no longer need to attend, PLEASE, PLEASE, remember to cancel your appointment in good time so it can be offered to someone else.

It is practice policy to review the registration of patients who continually fail to attend their appointments ultimately resulting in removal from the practice list.
