Dr Michael Grenville

General Practitioner

Dr Grenville is the 2nd longest serving GP in Waltham Forest.  She started practice at the Allum Centre in the days before formal universal GP training and continues to enjoy longstanding relationships with many patients – some as long as 45 years!
 
She was elected to the LMC in 1983 and has been re-elected continuously since then.  She now has the honour of serving as Chairman and has been elected by her peers to sit on the Londonwide Executive. 
 
In 1985 she became a GP trainer as well as a local tutor, and has enjoyed seeing her trainees develop and become trainers themselves.  Through the tutor role she applied to become a postgraduate associate director and served North East London for 25 years in this role. This gave her opportunities to work in the republic of Georgia, Sri Lanka and Japan, as well as organising training courses for both new and established trainers and attending various workshops and away weekends with both trainers and the trainees. 
 
Over the years, Dr Grenville has become known as the ‘ladies’ doctor’, and she still undertakes some gynaecological procedures.

Dr Evan James

Dr James graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg) in 1996. He completed his GP training at Whipps Cross hospital in 2001 and has worked as a GP in Waltham Forest since then. He joined the Old Church Surgery as a partner in 2010.
 
He is committed to his role as a family practitioner and greatly values being able to provide health care to different generations of patients and observe their passage through life.
 
He passed the Membership of College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) with merit in 2003. He also holds diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology (DRCOG), a postgraduate diploma in diabetes and endocrinology (Middlesex) and a postgraduate diploma in dermatology (QMUL).
 
He has worked as a GP with an extended role in diabetes since 2002, initially in hospital and then in the community. He has a long-standing interest in managing diabetes (especially type 2 diabetes) and associated conditions such as high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease and high cholesterol, through a combination of lifestyle change and evidence-based medications.
 
He is also a GP with an extended role in dermatology. He has an interest in managing a wide range of dermatological conditions, in addition to the assessment of skin lesions by dermoscopy.
 
Dr James has been a GP trainer since 2008. He has held various roles in leadership and service redesign and provision in the past, but currently prefers to focus his time on clinical/patient care.

Dr Shereen Rahman

Dr Rahman graduated from Guys and St Thomas’ Medical School (London) in 1995 and completed her GP training in 2000, joining the Old Church Surgery in 2016.  She holds diplomas in child health (DCH), elderly care (DGM) and women’s health (DRCOG). As a practising GP principle and GP trainer, she believes in taking a holistic approach to patients and strongly believes in the importance of continuity of care.
 
Dr Rahman was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2012 for her innovative leadership and improvements to patient care within general practice and local community health, in particular, dermatology services.
 
She obtained a distinction in the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology in 2003 and has worked as a dermatology specialist in the community since 2003. She has a particular interest in dermatological surgery, including skin cancer surgery.

Dr Gemma Constable

Dr Constable qualified from University College London in 2004. During her medical training she was determined to pursue general practice as her chosen career path, having enjoyed many specialities of her medical training and wanting to combine these into community care for patients. On completion of her pre-registration employment, she went straight into her GP training on the Romford GP training scheme.
 
During her GP training she worked at St Francis Hospice which gave her an opportunity to experience specialist palliative care and understand the importance of care for patients and their families towards the end of life.
 
She completed her MRCGP in 2009, as well as certificates in family planning and a diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology. She has worked as a GP in Waltham Forest and other areas of East London since then and has been a member of the Old Church Surgery team since 2020.
 
She also continues to work at St Francis hospice in Havering as a specialty doctor in end-of-life care and is passionate about improving the experience and quality of life of patients living with non-curative conditions.
 
In her general practice role, she oversees the care of patients in care homes and is the E4 primary care network (PCN) palliative care and care home lead. This role includes responsibility for the multidisciplinary team meetings. She is also on the Waltham Forest Integrated Care Board (ICB); in this role she is helping to improve the experience for residents in Waltham Forest.
 
She has been a GP trainer for 2 years and values the opportunity to help develop the next generation of general practitioners. 

Dr Ravi Ganepola

Dr. Ganepola graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2014. He also holds a
degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, which has provided him with a strong foundation in understanding the biological underpinnings of health and disease.
 
He completed his GP specialty training in 2020 as part of the Whipps Cross Hospital vocational training scheme. Since then, he has worked as a Salaried GP at The Old Church Surgery.
He is particularly interested in promoting patient wellbeing, managing chronic diseases, and preventing health issues through lifestyle interventions. He also has a keen interest in musculoskeletal medicine.
 
In addition to his routine practice work, Dr. Ganepola spends a significant amount of time working in urgent unscheduled care settings. This experience has honed his ability to handle medical emergencies effectively and efficiently.
 
Dr. Ganepola is passionate about delivering personalised care that addresses the unique needs of each patient. He enjoys building strong relationships with his patients and working collaboratively with them.

Dr Vira Gohil

Dr Gohil graduated from Kings College London in 2012. She achieved full membership of the Royal College of General Practice in 2019 and has worked as a GP in the Old Church Surgery since 2020.
 
Before deciding on general practice, she commenced general surgery training which included performing minor surgery lists. She gained considerable experience in this field. She maintained an interest in minor surgery and dermatology and achieved a Postgraduate Diploma of Minor Surgery (with merit) and a Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Dermatology (with distinction).
 
Dr Gohil works in community dermatology services within Waltham Forest, providing medical skin consultations and performing surgical biopsies for patients. She also works at ESS Clinic in South Woodford performing minor surgery in the private sector.
 
Dr Gohil prides herself in taking the time to meet patients’ needs and is passionate about providing a comprehensive approach to patient care. With her approachable nature, wealth of clinical experience and anatomical knowledge, Dr Gohil will ensure that optimal results are achieved for each patient.

Dr Oritsematosan Otubu

Dr Otubu graduated from the University of Leicester Medical School in 2016. She received her certificate for completion of training and became a Member of The Royal College of General Practitioners in 2021, joining the Old Church Surgery in 2022.
 
She has an interest in women’s sexual and reproductive health; in order to pursue this, she gained a diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG). She is a fellow at the Whipps Cross Hospital Gynaecology Department, working in the Uro-gynaecology and Menopause Care clinics. She is currently working towards the diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and competence in intrauterine techniques with the sexual health services at Bart’s Health. 
 
She is a GP facilitator on the University College London Medical School women’s health course. She is passionate about patient education and empowerment and has worked with organisations such as AraNiniHealth and Daughter’s of Africa to deliver workshops on menopause, menstrual and reproductive health.

Dr Nadina Hussain

Dr Hussain earned her MBBS degree from St. Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London in 2006. Following extensive training in both hospital and community settings, she qualified as a General Practitioner (GP) in 2011.  Over the past 13 years, she has worked as a GP across various practices in London and joined the Old Church Surgery in 2023.  She has particular interests in Diabetes and Women’s Health and has furthered her expertise by completing a Certificate in Diabetes Care at Warwick University and obtaining a Diploma from the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (DFSRH).
 
Dr Hussain is also deeply involved in medical education. She has been active in teaching and training medical students within GP settings and is a qualified GP trainer. Additionally, she serves as a clinical lecturer at Queen Mary University of London, contributing to both the MBBS and Physician Associate programs. As the module lead for Community Medicine, she also holds roles as a senior tutor and academic advisor. Currently, she is pursuing a postgraduate certificate in medical education.
 
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Dr Hussain played a pivotal role in the delivery of the vaccination program. She also provided Covid-related advice and medical care to VIP clients at Warner Brothers’ film studio, which led to her work as a private concierge GP until 2022.
 
While her primary role remains within the NHS, she continues to engage in occasional clinical private GP work. She also holds an administrative position with a private GP practice in London, where she focuses on notes summarisation and audit work.

Dr Maeve Heaney

Dr Heaney earned her BSc in Biomedical Science from St George’s University of London in 2011. She then secured the coveted transfer to Medicine and completed her MBBS in 2014. During her time at university, she was elected a Member of the St George’s University Council, served as Entertainments Officer, and was a Director of The Revue Society. Her contributions were recognised with the St George’s University Performer of the Year award (2010) and Students’ Union Colours in Performing Arts (2011).
 
After completing her Foundation Training, Dr. Heaney pursued GP training through the Whipps Cross VTS Scheme, qualifying in 2020. She represented GP trainees on The London GP trainee committee from 2017 to 2020. She then worked as a salaried GP in Walthamstow before joining The Old Church Surgery.
 
She has a broad spectrum of clinical interests and currently serves as Clinical Lead for Medicines Optimisation, Respiratory, and Women’s Health at Waltham Forest Integrated Care Board. She also chairs The North East London Antimicrobial Resistance Strategy Group. Committed to improving patient care, Dr Heaney is completing an Executive Master’s in Medical Leadership (MSc) at Bayes Business School.

Pauline is proud to have worked in the NHS for many years. She trained as a Registered General Nurse and subsequently qualified as a Mental Health Nurse. She has worked in General Practice for over 20 years and has a particular interest in diabetes and chronic disease management. She has also completed a degree in Enhancing Clinical Practice (Primary Care), which qualifies her to prescribe, diagnose, and refer. This enables her to deliver high-quality patient care.

An Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) is a senior nurse who provides evidence based, high-quality care for patients needing both urgent/acute and chronic long term conditions care. Pauline has advanced diabetes management skills and will support Dr James in the provision of diabetes care for Practice patients.
Pauline is also able to offer appointments and treatment for minor illnesses and provides an emergency triage service to support Practice doctors. Pauline is also a Nurse Prescriber so is able to prescribe for patients autonomously without the need for patients to see one of the doctors.

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses and they can deal with prescription enquiries.

Community Midwives

Share the ante-natal care, deliveries and post natal care for our patients. The clinic is at Chingford Health Centre. If you need to see them please telephone 020 8558 0234 for an appointment.

Community Nurses

An excellent service is provided to our patients by the community District Nurses. They visit patients in their homes at the request of the doctors and provide general nursing care. The District Nurses are based at Chingford Health Centre and can be contacted on 020 8430 7682.

Health Visitors

All families with children under five have a health visitor. The health visitor runs child health clinics and group education classes. They offer support and advice on child development, managing difficult behavior and general parenting skills. Baby clinics are currently held at Chingford Health Centre 109 York Road E4 8LF Tel: 020 8430 8010.

Additionally, Well Baby Development checks for 6-8 week old babies are offered at the practice.
